1) Sexual Frustration

Sex-related problems are often at the heart of unfaithfulness. If one partner isn’t experiencing sexual fulfillment, for whatever reason, they could be motivated to seek it outside the relationship.

2) Substance-Abuse

Cheating in and of itself as an example of bad judgement.  And sometimes, bad judgement is caused by inebriation.  When people are under the influence, there’s a higher probability that cheating can happen if the opportunity presents itself.

3) Insecurities About Attachment

Sometimes partners in a relationship experience emotional dissonance.  When this dissonance is unconscious or subliminal, they can inadvertently sabotage the relationship by cheating.

4) Bad Role Models

The way people are raised during childhood has a big impact on their behavior during adulthood.  If an individual saw one of their parents cheating when they were younger, this example could have set a psychological precedent which becomes imitated.
