7 Must-Have Keyboard Shortcuts if You Use Windows Regularly

Most keyboard shortcuts used in Windows 10

Computers have become such a natural part of our daily lives, that most people think they know everything about them.  But the truth is that the average person actually uses computers in a limited way.  Especially when it comes to typing on keyboards.  While there’s nothing wrong with typing on keyboards conventionally, memorizing keyboard shortcuts is a powerful way of working more efficiently with computers.

Keyboard Shortcuts are a Lifesaver

Tech Expert Mauro Huculak explains that, “keyboard shortcuts provide a quick way to navigate and operate computers. Although it can be overwhelming trying to memorize all the available keyboard shortcuts, it's important to consider that most people don't need to learn every shortcut in existence. Only focusing on those you need to use more frequently can noticeably make things easier, and help you to work more efficiently.” Here are a few keyboard shortcuts to help you get the job done:

1) CTRL + C

This keyboard shortcut makes it possible to copy selected text.  It eliminates the need to right-click, and scroll through drop-down menu options when duplicating text.

2) CTRL + X

This keyboard shortcut makes it possible to cut selected text from an open file.  Much like the copy shortcut, it eliminates the need to right-click and scroll through drop-down menu options.

3) CTRL + V

Once text has either been copied or cut, this keyboard shortcut makes it possible to paste without reaching to use a mouse.

4) CTRL + Z

This keyboard shortcut makes it possible to undo recently performed tasks.

5) CTRL + Y

This keyboard shortcut makes it possible to redo a task which has recently been undone.

6) ALT + Tab

This keyboard shortcut makes it possible to switch from one open application to another.  It does this without minimizing or closing any windows.

7) F2

This keyboard shortcut makes it possible to rename a selected or highlighted file, without scrolling through a right-click drop-down menu.

Conclusion

It might seem like a lot of work learning how to use keyboard shortcuts, but they’re easy to use once you get the hang of it.  Keyboard shortcuts are great because they reduce the amount of energy that goes into scrolling through drop-down menus.  Whether it’s for work, or personal reasons, adding shortcuts to your repertoire will change your life.  If you like what you just read from our blog, you’ll love the various informative courses, workshops and events listed on our websites and social media.
